Our Story
We are an interdisciplinary team of creatives, engineers, innovators, managers, food and health tech founders with a deep fascination for the fungi kingdom or queendom.
Our founders Mark Zahran, Joel Roos and Tobias Schneider are all experienced entrepreneurs dedicated to the health of people and the planet. Together with WITWINKEL AG we pursue excellence and quality in all our products and services.
Our founding advisors Nicolas Berchten and Timon Graber support us with events, product development, sustainable sourcing and even AI-solutions for the best possible experience.
Like fungi we embrace a decentralized work-ethic and culture, and collect ancient wisdom from all parts of the world, from the mountains of the Yunnan Province in China to the depths of the Amazonian jungle. In the hobbit-like landscapes of Einsiedeln in Switzerland we engineer the products with high-tech Swiss precision together with the Dr. Fontana Lab in their Food Labs.
Our Team
Mark Zahran
A passionate FoodTech-Entrepreneur with a master’s degree in Architecture from ETH Zurich and UNAM, Mexico-City. Through his first Start-Up and ETH Spin-Off YASAI he embraced Vertical Farming as a future technology to shape the food system towards more circularity. With GAYA he aims to embrace ancient wisdom and combine it with Swiss precision for a society with a stronger focus on preventative health.
Joel Roos
Serial-entrepreneur and investor in over 20 startups, committed to staying a founder & build awesome companies. Developed the world's most advanced motion analysis AI for fitness & physical therapy with VAY, a spin-off from ETH Zurich. He’s passionate about health and deeply embraced it as a former member of Switzerland's Volleyball National Team. With GAYA he aims to further improve access to the three main pillars of a healthy lifestyle: Exercise, Sleep, and Nutrition.
Tobias Schneider
An experienced CFO that scaled already two international operating Swiss start-ups, Zippsafe and AirConsole with business admnistration degrees from University of Zurich and St. Gallen. With GAYA he aims to scale the access to functional mushrooms and other superfoods and offer Swiss quality to a global community.
Timon Graber
A creative mastermind and co-founder of the Tuttswit Holding, which spans under its umbrella the creative end-to-end power house WITWINKEL, Tik-Tok fast pased content marketing company Briskly and Propper Production. With more than 10 years experience in the marketing industry he’s shaping the premium brand GAYA towards excellence and communicates to the broad public the potential of ancient superfoods such as functional mushrooms.
Nicolas Brechten
An event-guru and co-founder of Evenito and Children of Panacea with a master degree in Business Innovation at University of St. Gallen and Stanford University. With his work he embraces the power of community and creates unforgettable events. With GAYA he aims to bring people together that foster a health-conscious lifestyle with mindful events that embrace rituals in common unity, another crucial pillar for longevity.
